Many conference phones on the market today are either designed for a specific system like Cisco, Nortel or Avaya, or are a single-line analog telephone which can't be supported by a digital non-hybrid system. This part allows the user to connect a single-line analog conference phone (See Polycom's SoundStation2) to their digital or multi-line system through their regular desk phone as seen below.
The deskset is still needed to make and receive calls, but once the handset is off the hook the conference phone's speaker and microphone wil be enabled.
